Now the TM45 is starting to really show its capabilities with an exceptional result given the wind strength, wind angle and my lack of stamina. With just a few runs and much walking due to the dropping tide and heavy chop in the channel, the speeds were achieved through huge efficiency and control from the equipment. The wind was mostly around 28-30 with some gusts perhaps to 35. The key thing to note here is that I did many of these runs in normal wind conditions, not huge squalls or gusts. The numbers are great but still don't really show the full extent of the performance because of the lack of runs. I have included all nine runs in the following listing just to give a sense of what was really going on. Note that the 500m runs were curtailed because there was presence of heavy chop at the bottom of the course so I rarely ventured down there. Most of the speed was generated high up the course at a tighter angle and in smooth water with no risk of wiping out.
Just for reference I have included the results from the second NAVI unit as well. Very similar results that produces the same result on gps-speedsurfing.
Here are the graphs of the best runs (pink range is 500m). Note that there could be some cavitation setting in at nearly 47 knots, which if it really is cavitation, agrees well with the mathematical prediction. It may still be possible to go a little faster but would need some load taken off the fin by going a bit broader, or perhaps in one of those squalls that I missed:
