TM 50

The TM 50 is an attempt to take what has been learnt developing the TM45 and extend the capabilities to 50 knots by raising the cavitation threshold and compromising as little as possible in other areas.

The design work on the TM50 started with a TM45 and through many weeks of design iteration and testing through XFoil I have managed to raise the cavitation threshold to 51 knots yet still achieve a foil that will sustain a drag bucket in poor water conditions. The trade off has been in lift and width of drag bucket. This means the TM50 must run with less lateral load than the TM45, hence needing much more wind and/or a broader course to get to top speed. I am hopeful it will still operate to design at 120 degrees on a very windy day so as to avoid the chop.

A prototype of the TM50 has been machined and is ready to test at Sandy Point when the conditions become suitable.

The TM50 is not currently available, but you can contact me for more information on future availability at sales@intellimass.com.
