The TM45 mould in the making. The "supercavitating foil" look
of the fin with the big kink in the middle is just an optical illusion from the
milling process. The very fine milling paths cut at different angles on the
front and the back half of the fin pick up the light from different angles. You
can see a similar effect in the face of the mould where the large cutting bit
has cut the solid billet alloy in a circular motion causing the light to produce
strange parrallel lines. These lines are so fine they buff out with only few
passes of 1200 wet and dry.
Check out how fine the final finish is. The boys ran the mill overnight at a very close
milling path spacing so it is basically smooth before I apply
wet and dry!
