Sometimes a track file contains a number of days of data that needs to be separated into a file for each day. To split a file first select a single point that will mark the start of the second file and then right click in the Track Point Pane or Speed Graph and select Split Track File.
Once you have selected to split the file, RealSpeed will create two new entries in the Trackfiles section of the Tree Pane as shown here:
Note however that no files have been created or changed yet. On the right of each file is an asterick to show that the file has not been saved yet. When a file is split the name gets a number appended to the end that is the index number of the last file in the list of track files. So it is possible to continue splitting a file into many parts and still have some idea where they came from. To save a file right click the file and select Save As... or select the file and select File/Save As... from the main menu. A file can be saved as a GPX or BIN file. When the file is saved the asterisk will disappear.
